Using Crystal Reports in SAP BI Environment

Several years ago, I was a programmer for C# .NET and had been using Crystal Reports for about 4 years, even back in the time of Visual Basic 6 when Crystal Report was still owned by Crystal Decisions, and up until now I still feel that Crystal Reports to be the most robust and powerful reporting tool out there.

Back in 2007, Crystal Reports has been acquired by the SAP AG, after it acquired Business Objects, and it didn’t surprise me to see that Crystal Reports is becoming one of the most prominent and robust tools within the SAP BusinessObjects environment. Now You still can have experience the power of Crystal Reports in creating a standard even complex report.

I believe that most developers will agree that this acquisition is the right move made by SAP, Crystal Reports is designed to create reports based on SAP or no SAP related data sources and just by using Crystal Reports step by step wizard you can create a report on a fly with ease. You can also create formula, cross tabs, sub reports and even conditional formatting.

Crystal Reports also is included with a powerful exporting function, that way we can convert the report into PDF, EXCEL, WORD or send it via email. If we compare Report Designer from BI with Crystal Report then we can see an immediate difference, where Crystal Reports providing a very nice dashboard, with well positioned and focusing on a specific information.
